About OREF...

Since it was founded in 1955, the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF) has raised funds to support research and education on diseases and injuries of bones, joints, nerves, and muscles. From investigations of the processes that lead to rheumatoid arthritis, to research on prosthetics that can combat infections in total joint replacement patients, OREF-funded research enhances clinical care, leading to improved health, increased activity, and a better quality of life for patients.

OREF was established to ensure an expanding base of knowledge and effective, evidence-based treatment protocols for orthopaedic surgeons to continually improve patient care. Awards are given based on scientific rigor, contribution to orthopaedic knowledge and clinical relevance.  Information about OREF grants and awards and how to apply are available at www.oref.org/grants.  A not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization, OREF welcomes contributions from individuals and organizations; gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
