OREF Highlights

Since 1989, OREF has funded 274 State Society Lectureships totaling $273,000. Sample State Society Lectureship topics have included:

  • Current strategies and treatments such as joint reconstruction and cartilage restoration
  • Legal perspectives on liability reform
  • Trauma and practice management
  • Discussions of federal and state issues
  • Sponsoring lectureships for various state orthopaedic societies makes up another aspect of our educational role. The grants allow presentations that complement the Continuing Medical Education courses provided during the state societies' individual meetings, and they often also address topics that go beyond basic skills or new orthopaedic developments.

    RETURN TO OREF HIGHLIGHTS

"When I received the grant from OREF, it was given to the Idaho Orthopaedic Society for education, the important "E" in OREF. We used the grant to help fund a speaker for our annual meeting. I remember the meeting was well attended, and I felt that the money was well-spent to advance orthopaedic education in Idaho."
