Grant develops orthopaedic surgeons with research skills to undertake and manage health services and outcomes research. One two-year fellowship is offered annually at $70,000 per year.

Award encourages a commitment to scientific research in orthopaedic surgery. Awards of up to $75,000 per year for three years will be considered.

Awards provide one year of funding of up to $25,000 for educational programs developed in conjunction with a recognized, national organization: to evaluate the effectiveness of orthopaedic education at all levels; clinical consensus conferences, workshops and symposia; research and development of educational electronic media; and innovative approaches to education.

Award provides up to $2,500 for a lecture on a topic of interest to orthopaedic surgeons.

Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery Resident Journal Club Grants

The objective of this program is to support journal club activities for orthopaedic residents. Participation in this program is open to existing and new journal clubs. The program will enhance residency training by providing educational information on managing an effective journal club, and will teach residents how to evaluate current scientific literature. Grants of $2,500 per program are available.

This award recognizes outstanding clinical research related to musculoskeletal disease or injury. Manuscripts should be original and may be submitted by members of the AAOS, ORS, Canadian Orthopaedic Association, Canadian ORS or sponsored by a member. One award of $20,000 is offered.

Grant provides funding for a young orthopaedic surgeon from India to travel to the U.S. for specialty training, including attendance at the AAOS Annual Meeting.

These grants provide funding for promising prospective clinical research projects. Subject to the available levels of philanthropic support, awards of up to $50,000 per year for up to three years, conditional upon annual review, will be considered on all topics.

Grants encourage new investigators by providing seed money and start-up funding of up to $50,000 per year for up to two years.

Award is to encourage development of research interests for residents and fellows in approved orthopaedic programs. Grants of $15,000 are offered in January and July to be used over a 12-month timeframe.

Award provides an honoraria of $1,000 for speakers at state society annual meetings.

This award promotes the advancement of scientific and/or clinical training of new orthopaedic surgeons who have a clinical or scientific interest in total joint surgery and/or trauma treatment. The qualified candidate must be an orthopaedic surgeon who is currently completing or has completed formal training within the past four years. The amount of the award will be up to $50,000 for up to one year.
